Children's privacy notice
How Scrimmages handles information about athletes under 13 · Last updated Sep 23, 2026 · Version 2026-08-12
The short version
- Scrimmages doesn’t offer logins to children under 13.
- A parent or guardian provides a child’s information, and can review it, have it deleted, or stop its further use.
- We never use children’s data for advertising.
Scrimmages does not offer under-13 logins
A parent or guardian can create a player login only for an athlete whose age on record is 13 or older. If we learn that an athlete with a login is under 13, we remove that login. Otherwise, athletes under 13 appear only as records that a parent or guardian (or organization staff acting for them) manages.
What we collect about an under-13 athlete
When a guardian registers a child, the organization may collect the child's name, date of birth, emergency-contact details, and any medical or allergy notes the program asks for. The organization may also configure program-specific questions and uploads; it is responsible for limiting required information to what is reasonably necessary for that program. Games may also be recorded, so game video—and audio only where the organization has lawfully enabled it—may include a child’s image or voice.
Parental consent
The guardian who registers the child provides this information themselves and agrees to our terms and the program waiver at the time of registration. When a sign-up is for a child under 13, we record that consent against the child's record. We do not collect personal information directly from the child, and Scrimmages has no private one-to-one messaging between a minor and an unrelated adult. Direct messages are between adults only.
Your rights as a parent or guardian
You can, at any time:
- Review it. See your family’s schedules, registrations, and payments on your Family page. To get everything we hold, including registration details not shown there, make a privacy request or email privacy@scrimmages.app.
- Delete it. Ask us to delete it with a privacy request or by email, except where we must keep a record to meet a legal obligation.
- Refuse further collection or use. Ask your organization’s registrar to withdraw your child. This stops any further collection and use of their information; to also delete what’s already held, make a privacy request.
Advertising — contextual only
Organizations may sell sponsorships that appear on their public pages. These ads are contextual only: an advertiser is chosen by the page and the organization, never by who is viewing it. We do not use behavioral or targeted advertising, do not build advertising profiles, and never share a child's personal information with advertisers or any third party for advertising. We never use minors' data for advertising of any kind.
How long we keep it
We keep a child's information only as long as it's reasonably necessary to run the program and meet the organization's legal and safety obligations, then delete it on the organization's instruction under our written data-retention policy. Raw and processed game recordings follow organization-set deletion periods. A reported safety incident may place the relevant recording on a restricted hold until the organization formally releases it. We do not retain children's information indefinitely.
Security
Traffic is encrypted in transit (TLS), passwords are stored hashed, and access to registration and medical data is restricted by organization-aware roles. Game recording stays off for an organization until Scrimmages staff approve four separate checks: its recording policy and legal notices, its safeguarding plan, its camera devices and fields, and the video-processing provider. Each approval lasts at most a year and must then be renewed. No security measure can remove every risk.
